Yellow and Black for Spring

I'm seeing a lot of yellow and black this Spring in women's sportswear and dresses.  While the combination may be a bit too much for some in apparel; you can add a few touches in accessories to update your wardrobe this spring.
Yellow is the color of sunshine. It's associated with joy, happiness, intellect, and energy.  With that in mind, I created the following Collection in Yellow and Black accessories on Artfire.

I love the bumble bee earrings made from repurposed buttons.

The bracelet made from typewriter keys is also very unique.

The tote bags are great accessories.

Even my Halloween spider earrings can work this spring.

Gift Boxes

Like many crafters, I have a hard time throwing things away.  The Christmas cards I receive every year are in that category.  I've used them for kid's craft projects some years.  I've turned them into gift tags when I've needed a few extras.

This year, I found that I was giving a lot of gift cards to family.  They are great last minute, extra gifts.  But, gift cards don't always come with a box or even an envelope.  So, I used my old cards from previous years and turned them into small gift boxes.  I originally got the pattern from one of the ladies I work with at the Senior Center.  There are also many different tutorials on line now.
Here is a link to one:

This is a group I made this year.

This is a department store box covered with a card cut to size.

Just add some cording and they look great.

Here's one for any time of the year.

Talk Like a Pirate Day

I've been working with children's after school programs for many years. We occasionally have fun theme days.  Recently I came across a holiday which is unknown to many.  That is "Talk Like a Pirate Day".  It is celebrated on September 19th.

Here's a link to the history and an explanation from Wikipedia:
It basically celebrates the romanticized version of Pirates of the old movies...  dress like a pirate, talk like a pirate and play pirate games.
In keeping with the theme, I've found some pirate items on Artfire:
